Samples:

Live: whole blood (2mL), serum (2mL), nasal swab, feces, ear notch
Dead (adult): lung, peyers patch, spleen, mesenteric lymph node, feces, thymus, kidney
Dead (fetus): spleen, kidney, lung, liver, adrenal gland

Container:

Whole blood - collect the blood in a purple top vacutainer.
Serum - collect the serum in a red top vacutainer
Swabs – collect the swab in viral transport media (contact RDVS lab to purchase)
Feces- collect feces in a sterile sterile leak-proof container
Tissues – collect tissues in a sterile leak-proof container

Handling/ Storage:

Refrigerate specimen(s) prior to shipment. Ship specimen(s) in an insulated container with an ice pack
