Diagnostic Services provides diagnostic histopathology for specimens ranging in size from small surgical biopsies to whole organs. This includes tumours, skin biopsies, endoscopic samples, and samples collected during in-clinic/field necropsies. Biopsy charges include all special stains, with immunohistochemistry available at an additional cost.
It is important to include a complete clinical history when submitting specimens for histopathology. Please include relevant laboratory data, results of ancillary tests (e.g. radiographic findings), presumptive clinical diagnoses, as well as details about any current treatments. A gross description of the lesion is particularly useful and should include details regarding the size, location, and physical appearance of the lesion(s). Good quality digital images of lesions are increasingly being submitted with samples, and are often helpful.
